Catalyst Pilot Selection Criteria
Expressions of Interests will be passed to the Interview stage if the following criteria is met:
Criteria 1: Understanding local ecosystem challenges
Minimum Requirement:
The applicant can demonstrate a strong understanding of their local ecosystem and highlight challenges faced in this ecosystem.
Recommendations for a Good Application:
Highlight your ecosystem by geography.
- Show a quantitative and qualitative understanding of your ecosystem
Describe the challenges clearly.
Criteria 2: Innovation
Minimum Requirement:
The applicant will describe what the Catalyst Pilot will do and how this is different from current offerings and other offerings available in their ecosystem
Recommendations for a Good Application:
Be clear on what activities will take place
Demonstrate why you have chosen this new approach
Highlight other offers in your ecosystem and how this is complementary
Criteria 3: Innovation Inclusive local ecosystem engagement
Minimum Requirement:
The applicant will demonstrate how they currently engage their tech ecosystem and why this pilot will be accessible and provide support for local founders and companies.
Recommendations for a Good Application:
- Talk about who the pilot is for and how the pilot will be accessed
Provide information on how you regularly get feedback from your tech ecosystem and how this pilot has been influenced by this process.
Criteria 4: Measurable and sustainable impact
Minimum Requirement:
The applicant will demonstrate what difference this project will make and how this difference will be measured. They will also discuss any opportunities for sustainability of the project beyond the pilot.
Recommendations for a Good Application:
- Describe any baselines you have and intended changes
- Discuss what success looks like
Mention ideas for funding the project beyond the pilot.
At interview stage a portfolio of projects will be selected based on the following:
- The answers to the four initial criteria
- An assessment of deliverability within the timescales
- Affordability across the portfolio of projects – noting that there is a limited budget
- Geographic spread – the Regional Tech Booster is designed to deliver support across the country meaning all pilots cannot be from a small number of geographic areas.
